This was done more as a gift for a friend than anything else, but I'm especially pleased with how it turned out since I'm a great admirer of the source material. But who isn't? If you don't admire Stan Sakai and his body of work then you're obviously confusing him with someone else.
The epic tale of a wandering warrior in feudal Japan, Usagi Yojimbo is a true classic of the sequential art medium, still going strong after over two decades. I have the highest respect for it, for Mr. Sakai's devotion to historical accuracy, for his lush artwork and characterization, for his storytelling skills, for his dedication, and for those cute little dinosaur guys that he draws running around all over the place. Usagi Yojimbo and this particular breed of ninja bat are (c) Stan Sakai. I own nothing aside from the paper and the ink. And not even that, now, since I gave it to my friend... sad, really. |
