Lots of history for this one. This is meant to be a portrait of the legendary Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen. That's one of his quotes on there, and it fascinated me because I myself often say something similar. I often say to myself, I sez, "Each person's life is a cosmic odyssey." And when I saw that quote of his, I said to myself, I sez, "Huh! I guess I'm not the first person to have that sentiment! I just made it more comic-bookey. Well, I have Jack Kirby to thank for that." Or I said something similar, I don't remember. I wasn't listening to myself that much.
But here's more history. Part of the project was to scan a certain texture and use it in the image. I picked a piece of Christo's "Gates" that my mother sent me before they were taken down. So that's what that fabric is in the background. Neat, eh? ...Eh? Anyway, I got all sorts of fun, gooshy memories from this one. Thanks, Mr. Andersen. |
