Before you ask, no, I'm not planning to produce a whole Doctor Who doujinshi or anything like that. I don't think. Maybe a page or two here and there, maybe. But making comic covers is fun, I've got another one in the works already. Even though this one was really hard work! That's how I know it's fun!
Anyway, the hypothetical scenario for this incarnation's beginning adventures involves Gabrielle Verbeaux, a slightly mousy but adventuresome young journalist (who I guess I sexied up a bit for the cover image). Her brother is the project leader of a daring experiment utilizing salvaged technology from the many alien invasions of Earth to create a tentative portal into the space/time Vortex. He supervises the construction of a jury-rigged launching point for the world's first "chrononauts" and invites his sister into the project to document its progress. Which she does, until - all together now - Something Goes Wrong. Things rip out of control and the installation is destroyed, but not before sending Gabrielle and Gabriel (yeah, their parents thought that was clever) tumbling into the vacuum. They lose hold of each other and go spinning wildly through oblivion, Gabrielle falls helplessly until she approaches a bright light framed in blue...
She awakens from a deep sleep to find herself in strange yet comfortable surroundings, in a place which seems to defy the laws of physics. Rooms shift, and doors open to spaces larger on the inside than on the outside (it's all very "2001"-esque). As she explores she catches glimpses of an older man, milling around...
Well, that'd be pretty much the first issue. Or the first part of the first issue. Do you want to know the rest of the premise? Well, this is getting kind of long... ah, I'll save the rest for later. If you're interested.
Oh and I guess I should mention, Doctor Who belongs to the BBC. Or whatever.
